Please send good thoughts to our foster kitten Ava, she was given - TopicsExpress

Please send good thoughts to our foster kitten Ava, she was given the wrong type of eye meds at clinic) and it seriously hurt her eyes. We took her to our personal vet on Sat because we could see she was getting worse and when our vet saw the eye meds that were given, it was determined the meds caused the damage, she was given new meds and a few tests to determine how bad her eye ulcers and corneas were damaged from this. Her poor eyes are still totally red and they are now starting to bulge outward. We were told she will at the minimum have clouds over her eyes and might loose sight, and that is if the new meds start to heal her eyes.. This is not a quick fix , it may take at least a month if she heals well, not to mention hundreds of dollars more with follow up visits and care. This is just a heads up, when you know something is not right, go with your gut feeling and I am glad we did, if not she would prob be blind if not having to have her eyes removed. It has taken me a few days to calm down to even write this post. And if you cat/dog has an eye infection and white cloudy spots (it could be an ulcer) on them DO NOT use any ointment that contains a Hydrocortisone which is a steroid..it will make it worse, guaranteed. The pic on the left is her pretty light brown eyes that are now red & damaged & the neon green pic is after a dye our vet put in her eyes to see how bad the ulcers were.
