**Please share with friends and Family traveling through or visiting the Northern Rivers** Once again it is Sugar Cane Burning Season. It will go from now through to about Nov/Dec depending in weather. This video shows the impressive sight of a Pre Harvest Sugar Cane Fire in the late afternoon. They are the source of many 000 calls by concerned travellers that have never seen this kind of thing before. They are almost always described as tall grass on fire beside the road. Many hours are spent by Volunteers investigating these 000 calls. They are conducted by experienced farmers in the industry and despite the way they look, they are very well controlled. This Pre Harvest burning is also permitted on days of Total Fire Ban between the hours of 7.00pm and 7.00am. One of very few activities that are provided such an exemption. Please share this to broaden the awareness of this activity for those out of our region when travelling from Grafton North to the Queensland Border.
