Please take a few minutes from your day and read this, posted by C. Michael Davis. It will be well worth the time. “American incomes have tumbled over the last decade. But for many people in Washington, D.C., it’s been something of a party. The income of the typical D.C. household rose 23.3% between 2000 and 2012 to an inflation-adjusted $66,583, according to the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, its most comprehensive snapshot of America’s demographic, social and economic trends. During this period, median household incomes for the nation as a whole dropped 6.6% — from $55,030 to $51,371. The state of Mississippi, which had one of the biggest declines, dropped 15% to $37,095: Nearly one in three people there have an income that is near the poverty line.” Folks, please notice the income level of most tax paying Americans. We are the bosses, at least in theory, as of late. Yet the average salary for the rank and file in both the House and the Senate is $175,000 dollars per year. They also charge us for their travel expenses, their Washington apartments and their food and play time. So I ask you: Is it time we step up to the plate and recall all of those who are failing to live up to their oath to defend the Constitution of the United States of America? Is it time we ourselves engage in the business of Washington and the government that we depend on to protect us and to manage our tax dollars. My wife and I would not think of trying to manage our home without a budget, yet the Senate has attempted to manage the whole of the government without one. How can they possibly know where the real financial leaks are and where we really need to cut and spend without a budget? If Obama and the Democrats choose to shut down the government it is not because the Republicans have not done their job. It is because Obama and the Democrats are lying to the American people and using Chicago style bully tactics to force their will on the majority of the people who pay taxes; that is us.
