Plucking semi-ripe guavas from a tree in ones backyard and eating - TopicsExpress

Plucking semi-ripe guavas from a tree in ones backyard and eating them raw, without having to clean them with water, is a joy only the fortunate few can avail of. I am one of these few. This is only possible on a rain-drenched day during guava season with the branches loaded with the sweet amruts. I keep waiting for such a day like the chataka bird waiting for the clouds and rains. And the day such a day comes I make it a point to suspend all other activities for a time and remain glued to my guava tree either until all the semi-ripe eatable guavas are exhausted or until I have had enough of the delicacy. If I have to go to my work-place on such an opportune day I get ready half an hour prior to my departure time and utilise that precious half hour in savouring the fruits. On my return home, I again go straight and stand beneath the lustily laden branches. This may appear to be a crazy deal to the uninitiates in this line, but indeed it is not. How many occasions of such pure, unalloyed bliss can one avail, during which one spontaneously regains ones child-like joy and innocence in ample measures !
