Poem to Sarah: The years together were eleven. Together twenty-four/seven. We were as one, Under the Bahamas sun. We combed the beaches hand in hand. Finding treasures in the sand. We worked together in the sun. Helping each other get the jobs done We made sweet love both day and night. Everything seemed so right. But trouble was brewing that I did not see. My sweet Sarah was no longer happy with me. She wanted things I could not give. No longer with me did she want to live. She found someone else to share her love with. And I lost my lifes most precious gift. . “I love you” no longer was spoken. My heart was forever broken. I no longer can taste her kiss. To hold her soft body I will always miss. I don’t know what made her change. To this day, it seems so strange. One day I’m the world’s happiest man. The next day my life has no plan. My hopes and dreams were dashed. My perfect world was trashed. I no longer had my perfect Wife. She left to start a different life. The Lions Den used to be a place full of happiness and pride. But now theres only memories and loneliness inside. A house is not a home without someone to love. Just an empty shell with a roof up above. No longer filled with love and gladness. Its faded paint and cracked walls seem to reflect its sadness. Like me its exterior is weathered and old. And its interior is now empty and cold She packed her things and then departed. Leaving me alone and broken hearted. Will she return? I guess never. But I will still love her… forever. Butch Hampton 10.16.2014
