Poem to the Great Mother * Oh Ancient Goddess From whom lives sprung And to whom life returns. In my solitary searching I saw you standing there, Your body so fine In shining marble form, Infused with limitless life. Your face I could not see, Your pulsating breath And pendulous breasts Holistic and encompassing Every living thing. And all the love spun From the cosmic tapestry At the first Creation** I know the Lover whose universe it is. I found you and will never leave you Oh Mother Goddess! * this is based on a vision I had in a dream several years ago ** the Creation story in Genesis teaches us that Gods image is both female and male as represented by Adam and the first Woman named as Lillith. Lillith left Adam because he wanted to dominate her, which is why Chava, Eve, became the subordinated second woman according to the patriarchal myth. Like · · Promote ·
