Points to Ponder on the deployment of troops of the Big Red One - TopicsExpress

Points to Ponder on the deployment of troops of the Big Red One out of Ft. Riley KS on Oct. 8 and the regimes decision, which they have now reversed, under pressure, to not award American troops in Iraq and Syria who areon the ground there in an advisory capacity, medals. A decision based, they originally said, on the troops not being there for combat... 1. Every square foot of ground in those countries is either experiencing combat or can/will/might experience it at any time. 2. If they called it war, Congress would have to vote Yea or Nay on it. Few in Congress want to do that...at least not right before the election. And, Obama SURE doesnt want a war vote...a vote of Yea would infuriate his base, the left, even further than they are already infuriated. Plus, hed then have to WAGE war...which he does not want to do and does not know how to do properly. A vote of Nay would keep him from looking presidential and strong...right before the election. Lots of reasons lots of people dont want to call this war. And, all this is beside two other points: 1. Obama has consistently said all this time No Boots on the Ground. Yet, significant numbers of the Big Red One are moving out on Oct. 8 to Syria and Iraq. And, 2. Anyone with a grain of brain tissue knows that it will have to take boots on the ground, in actual combat, to even begin to fight ISIS/ISIL properly and effectively. So, yes. Many points to ponder on this. Its like Lewis Carroll said: The time has come, the Walrus said, to speak of many things... ~cj
