Police Appeal For Witnesses To Fatal Collision Near Shropshire/Staffordshire Border Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to a road collision near the Shropshire/Staffordshire border in which a 66-year-old car driver died. His car crashed off the B4176 at Danford, Claverley, near Bridgnorth, shortly after 4pm on Friday (9th May) ending up on its roof in a field. The driver, who has yet to be formally named, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only occupant of the black Peugeot 107. West Mercia Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances and have appealed for witnesses to come forward. The investigating officer, Police Constable Simon Dunn, said today: “The collision happened near the South Staffordshire border south of Rudge Heath roundabout on the B4176 towards Dudley. The Peugeot was travelling in this direction towards Staffordshire. “I am anxious to speak to anyone who saw the collision or the circumstances leading up to it. I would urge anyone who can help to please contact the Operations Policing Unit at Shrewsbury Police Station by calling 101.” A post mortem was due to be held later today and Shropshire coroner, Mr John Ellery, will open an inquest in due course.
