Police Excesses: Traders to observe shutdown in Maisuma and its adjacent areas on Saturday Srinagar: Accusing police of thrashing commoners and not even sparing worshipers during the protests in Maisuma locality on Friday, the traders bodies have decided to observe a complete shutdown in Maisuma and adjacent areas on Saturday against police action. President Traders Association Gowkadal, Sajad Ahmed Gul said that police personnel from police station Maisuma went on rampage in the area and thrashed people mercilessly when a protest against Israel aggression was going on in the area. “Some policemen kicked people who were worshipping on the road while others ransacked the goods inside the shops. Police personnel even went a step ahead and pelted stones on the residential houses, damaging windowpanes of several houses,” he said adding that police also fired pellets and injured three people. Gul added that at least 10 worshipers were injured in police action. Traders Association Gowkadal while demanding immediate transfer of the police staff from police station Maisuma said that a complete shutdown will be observed on July 12 Saturday in Maisuma and its adjacent areas.
