Police are appealing for public assistance after a child was injured during a hit and run in Haberfield this afternoon. Just before 3pm (Wednesday 21 May 2014), officers attached to Ashfield Local Area Command were called to Boomerang Street, near the intersection of Waratah Street, after reports of a crash. Police arrived to find a two-year-old boy had been struck by a vehicle at the location, before the driver left the scene. The boy was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics for minor injuries, before being taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital for further assessment. The roadway was blocked for a short time while emergency services carried out inquiries at the scene. The vehicle involved has only been described as a small light-coloured car. Investigations into the matter are continuing and anyone with information that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
