Police are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery at a liquor store at Panania. About 7.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 23 April 2014), a man entered the store on Tower Street, armed with a knife. The man threatened the 49-year-old male owner and 20-year-old male employee and demanded cash. He took money from the till before fleeing. Police from Bankstown Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene, which was examined by the Forensic Armed Robbery Unit. The man is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, aged in his 20s, 160cm tall with a solid build. He was wearing a grey hooded jumper and black tracksuit pants. Police are urging anyone with information about either the man’s identity, or the incident itself, to come forward.
