Police are appealing for witnesses after a 20-year-old man was reportedly seriously assaulted in Barnsley on Halloween. At around 10.30pm on Friday 31 October, it is reported that the man left the Squires pub in Hough Lane, Wombwell, walking towards the Alma pub with a friend. Outside a solicitors in Hough Lane, the man was reportedly assaulted from behind by an unknown man in what is believed to be an unprovoked incident. The 20-year-old sustained serious facial injuries which required hospital treatment. Reports suggest that the area was busy, with groups of people in the vicinity of the Squires pub and Alma pub who may have witnessed the assault.
