Police have released footage of the dramatic moment a man was stabbed in Salford on Wednesday 14 May 2014. Shortly after 5.10pm, a 19-year-old man and his friend were outside Fitzwarren Court, off Rosehill Close, when a private hire taxi, a white Renault MPV, pulled up some distance away and seven men got out. Footage now obtained by detectives shows the victim and his friend frantically trying to get buzzed into a nearby flat as they are being pursued by the group of men. Before they could get into the complex, the main offender ran up to them. Anticipating violence one of the potential victims vaulted a fence and ran off and managed to escape. The offender twice stabbed the victim before running off. At this point the gate was opened and the victim went inside and raised the alarm. Six of the offenders then got back into the taxi, which was parked out of sight of the whole incident, and the vehicle drove off. One of them ran away towards Salford Precinct. The victim was taken to hospital where he is now being treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries. He remains in hospital. A 21 year old man and two boys aged 16 and 17 were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and were released on bail pending further inquiries. Detective Sergeant Jill Vescovi, based at Pendleton CID, said: “We now want everyone to look at this footage and, in particular, want information about the main offender. “We have issued good quality footage showing the knifeman clearly wearing bright blue trousers. Did you see anyone wearing this distinctive clothing around the time of the incident? “This was a targeted attack on a young man in the middle of the day in a busy part of Salford. I am confident that someone will know who this man is.” Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 5360 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
