Police were kept busy overnight with two suspicious car fires in the southern suburbs. Just after 3am, police and MFS crews were called to a house in Parry Avenue at Somerton Park after reports of a van on fire in the driveway. The owner was woken by his dog barking and then spotted his van on fire after he went outside. Police believe the fire started in the cabin area and damage is estimated at about $15,000. Police were then called to another car fire, this time in Driscoll Road at Coromandel Valley, just before 5am, after a stolen Mitsubishi Pajero had been deliberately torched. Damage is estimated at about $5000. If anyone has any information about either of these fires, they are asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at sa.crimestoppers.au
