!!! Poonch Day Celebration !!! Hello friends ! Today Im sharing a legend story of an Indian city that was besieged and cut-off from rest of world for more than one year. This city is Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir. Poonch is besieged by more than one lakhs Pakistani militia and remain besieged and cut-off from rest of world from 20 November 1947 to 22 November 1948. This is biggest besieging of any city from world war 2 to till now. Poonch is successfully is defended by one Indian infantry battalion led by Lieutenant Colonel (later became Brigadier) Pritam Singh and 40,000 refugee taking shelter inside the city throughout the year. Pritam Singh not only serve as commander of Poonch garrison but also as civil administrator of Poonch city for throughout year. One of the important task of air bridging Poonch city is accomplished by AVM Subroto Mukharji and Cmdr Mehar Singh.This air bridge was maintain for more than one year during and after besieging of Poonch city. Lieu. Col. Pritam Singh, AVM Subroto Mukharji, Cmdr Mehar Singh are now forgotten hero and saviour of Poonch. Lets SHARE and LIKE this post in memory of who save Poonch.
