Pope John Paul visited Nigeria twice. On both occasions the president of the country was a Muslim First In the 80s during, Shagaris regime and in the 90s when late Gen Abacha was in office On both occasions the Prince of the Church of Rome was received with an exceptional presidential welcome with respect, honour, warmth and love, befitting for the unsoiled, unblemished Man of God- a simple pontiff, a man if the cloth. Nigeria was a different country then. Hate from the American Bible Belt was far far away from shores of our country, our home. Muslims in Nigeria never complained and not for once did any Muslim say that Nigeria was getting Christianised Years later, all that changed. All of a sudden some ignorant Christians decided to join an American backed crusade against Muslims and Islam. The end result is what every Muslim in Nigeria is facing on a daily bases, be it in reality or on social media I still remember the harsh words some so called educated Christians showered on us when the Chief Imam of Makkah visited Nigeria in 2001 In their voices in their word I felt the venom of hate fuelled by the devils blood that filled their veins- ignorance! It is such a pity that hate has consumed the hearts of many May Allah Shield us all from the evils and harsh words of the ignorant. Amin And May Allah Forbid us all to be amongst the ignorant. Amin
