Port Huron woman charged with torture, child abuse, assault |Times Herald Aug 11, 2014 A 22-year-old Port Huron woman was arrested after her boyfriends child was found in critical condition in a bathtub in the 800 block of 13th Street in Port Huron. Charlisa Wood was charged Friday with torture, first degree child abuse, and assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, according to the Port Huron Police Department. Torture and first degree child abuse are punishable by up to life in prison. The assault charge is punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Police were called to the residence on 13th street about 2:35 p.m. July 25 after receiving reports of a possible drowning. A four-year-old boy found in the bathtub was resuscitated, taken to McLaren Port Huron hospital and later airlifted to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital. The boy remained in critical condition for several days. His injuries included severe immersion burns, bruises, deep scratches, abrasions, and a lacerated liver. The boy was discharged from Beaumont Hospital and placed into foster care. Port Huron Police Detective Sgt. Brian Georgia has said two other children at the home were removed by Child Protective Services. The Port Huron Police Department Criminal Investigative Division and Child Protective Division of the Michigan Department of Human Services continue to investigate the incident. Additional arrests are possible.
