Position available for Archaeologist- Richfield, UT This position serves as the staff archaeologist located in the Richfield Field Office, in Richfield, Utah. Responsibilities include providing professional expertise on a variety of projects (i.e oil and gas lease sales, applications for permits to drill, rights of ways, grazing permit renewals, recreation projects, wildlife habitat projects, NEPA documents, fuels reduction projects, etc). He or she serves as the primary Field Office contact with Utah State Historic Preservation Officer for Section 106 and tribal consultations as necessary. he incumbent performs research, field investigations, and integration of results into agency or departmental environmental assessments, impact statements, operational programs, historic preservation compliance reports, and varied types of planning documents, laboratory and other data analysis, library research, interpretation or consultative work, preparation of reports, curatorship and exhibition of collections, or development and implementation of programs and projects which carry out such work. He or she ensures that data is entered, managed, and utilized in the Geographic Information System (GIS). The incumbent requires professional knowledge of archaeological principals, theories, concepts, methods, and techniques. The incumbent performs a wide range of tasks described in the above listing of duties and responsibilities. He/she must at a minimum meet the Professional Qualification Standards in the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines for Archeology and Historic Preservation.
