Possible snow, very cold conditions heading our way A dramatic change in our weather will be experienced from today to tomorrow. A very cold arctic storm currently building strength in the Vancouver, B.C./North Washington State area will quickly drop south on a strong, cold northerly wind and mature over Southern California tomorrow and Wednesday. This will create low clouds, strong winds and much colder temperatures through early Thursday. This is expected to be a relatively dry system so precipitation amounts will be low. Skies will begin clearing midday on Thursday as weak high pressure follows bringing clearing skies, lighter winds and a slight warming trend. 48 Hour Forecast / Extended Outlook Commencing 0800 Monday, 29 December 2014 Today: Clear skies through the day become partly to mostly cloudy (SCT/BKN050-100) with low cumulus beginning near midnight. Winds will remain generally light and variable through the day. Afternoon high temperatures will be in the low to mid 50s with overnight low temperatures dropping into the low 20s. Tomorrow: Cloudy skies (BKN040-120) with low cumulus in the morning thickens through the day. A chance of light rain in the late morning turns into snow soon after sundown. Accumulations are expected to be less than one inch. Northwesterly winds, under 10 knots in the morning, turn northerly and increase to 18 to 25 knots in the afternoon with gusts in the high 30 knot range possible from late afternoon through early evening. Winds taper off to northerly at 13 to 18 knots with gusts in the low 20s through the night. Afternoon high temperatures will be in the high 30s to low 40s with overnight low temperatures in the high 20s to low 30s due to the strong winds. Outlook: Mostly cloudy skies through the day on Wednesday clear to partly cloudy on Thursday and mostly clear skies on Friday. Moderate to strong north winds early Wednesday begin dropping to moderate to light midday. Winds further decrease to become generally light Thursday and Friday. High temperatures in the high 30s to low 40s Wednesday and Thursday increase to the upper 40s on Friday. Overnight low temperatures remain well below freezing throughout.
