Post from fan Pascal fleury: so while i was down in Savannah i went on a horse-drawn ghost ride... it was my sister her bf and i and one Indian couple and several white people...so he was telling the story of "Molly" a Haitian slave that had an affair with her slave-master...so the dude putting on the tour asks us "So where did most of the South get their slaves from at that time" all the people said in unison "HAITI!!!" and he asked "and what do we know about Haiti???" and everybody except my sister her bf and I shouted out "VOODOO"...so i felt a ways about that.. and i can tell that my sister did as well by the look on her face...so when he took the horse to the next stop light i interjected his spiel and gave everybody a 2 minute crash course in Haitian History. including the Haitian Revolution, The fact that it was the first free black republic in the new world after defeating its oppressors and the fact that the Haitians fought against the British in the Seige of Savannah for which there is a monument smack dab in the middle of the city...after i was done a 50 something white woman turned to me and said "I love the fact that your people are so proud" i said "Dam Right We Are!!!!" We are SO MUCH MORE than just voodoo, ex-slaves, boat people and the like... #truestory Fab*
