Posted: June 22, 2014 - Blessed in Christ Church - I had posted a gang violence occurring in Guatemala that lately resorted to a massive flock of refugee fleeing the land. I would like to take this opportunity to commence and talk about Corpus Christi. I believe as Catholics and Christian that we celebrates the body and Blood of Christ, one of the sacraments of the Eucharist. We know that on the last supper Jesus said This is my body pointing to the bread and this is my blood pointing to the wine. In 1264 the feast has been established. The purpose was to honor Jesus, ask for forgiveness, and protest those who denied the presence of God in the sacred host. Corpus Christi is being celebrated around the world and it start with a Mass and the procession will follow. Today, when I went to the Church a Jesuit missionary has been invited to lead the mass and as he was articulating the sermon he was talking about the time when he resides in Guatemala. He was assertive about the event that took place there and about the suffering of the poor and how in some places the young people are turning to a gang. He also claimed that after 30 years of living over there there were organization who had intervened and who had helps the poor and the youngster to turned their life around and to stay away from gang. As I was leaving the Church I cant help but think about the significance of his sermon and how it relates to Corpus Christi. And it dawned on me that it give us the purpose. The type of purpose why God gave his only begotten son to save us and redeem us. Jesus took the civic responsibility to give us hope and to look forward to the future, Guatemala is no different from the rest of the world and truly we need to pray for them to give them the same hope and future as we serve our purpose. - Author: Lito De Mesa
