Posted by - Tracey-ann Summers Smith Now i know i am probably going to open up a whole can of worms with this post but hey ho here goes, at least if nothing else it will raise the issue and get people talking. I was chatting to my mom earlier today after driving past king georges park in bloxwich and we got to remembering the carnival ( the way it used to be ) way back when there was a parade around the streets and finished up in the park where the queen was crowned and everyone headed for the fair. I raised the question as to why this was stopped, i know the council claim it costs too much to have the high street closed off and to police the parade but wonder why it is that pelsall carnival and willenhall carnival are still given this privelidge, surely they all come under te same council ?? As a bloxwich girl born and bred there is nothing i would love more than to see the old tradition bought back, where, like we did as kids, the child of today can experience the thrill of running up victoria avenue to catch up with the parade and feel the beat of the drum as the marching bands keep time with the march, Come walsall council lets bring back the traditional carnival for all to enjoy
