Posted by a good friend of mine (who is much smarter than me and would not want the attention) but this is way too good not to share!!! ................ Swell. The government is back open (temporarily) and the debt ceiling has, once again, been raised (temporarily) with a Bill that is 35 pages long. The do-nothings in D.C. (in both the Legislative and Executive branches) will continue to pull down their sizeable paychecks and have even agreed to pay the furloughed workers for the time they were locked out. Any guess as to whats embedded within the remaining pages of the Bill (and the reason for it being 35 pages)? You guessed it, BILLIONS OF $$$ OF PORK FOR SPECIAL PROJECTS -- including several billion dollars to Kentucky (home of Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell) for several different water projects to be performed by the Army Corps of Engineers. FOLKS, THESE PEOPLE DONT GET IT AND THEY NEVER WILL UNTIL THEY ARE COMPELLED TO DO SO. WITHOUT IMPOSING REAL ACCOUNTABILITY AND CONSEQUENCES, NOTHING WILL CHANGE. Rather than just complain, heres an actionable plan that WE could insist on if we are ever to begin to find our way out of this mess: 1. After the do-nothings return from their badly needed long weekend recess WE, THE PEOPLE, should demand that they immediately pass the proposed 28th Amendment to the Constitution (which states that Congress shall pass no law that doesnt apply equally to ALL of the branches of government in the same way that it does to THE PEOPLE -- and vice versa); 2. Anyone who does not vote in favor of the 28th Amendment will be revealed for the self-serving professional parasite that they are and WE, THE PEOPLE, should target them for defeat in the next election cycle -- REGARDLESS OF PARTY AFFILIATION. 3. Once the 28th Amendment is passed, Congress should immediately begin to retro-actively disassemble ALL of the perks that theyve granted FOR THEMSELVES (as well as for the Executive and Judicial branches) over the years at OUR expense which, among other things, would include: dismantling their own special retirement system that is separate and distinct from Social Security, imposing the same insider trading rules on themselves that WE have to live by; and, passing a law that says if they dont do their jobs competently they not only dont get paid, but can be removed from office. FYI, if you work in the private sector and dont do your job (and in the process you deliberately hurt the company and shareholders that employ you), guess what? YOU GET FIRED IMMEDIATELY FOR CAUSE. One of the unique elements of the American form of self-rule is that the government is supposed to work for the people. Unfortunately, it is the other way around and has been that way for far too long. Unless and until WE take the initiative to get this turned around, WE are doomed to a future as subjects and not as the citizens our forefathers envisioned. Where do you stand? Have a good day.
