Posted by page fan Joyce yesterday: I spoke to a number of members of the RBLS today who are very unhappy about the name-change - no-one asked their opinion and it was imposed from on high without warning. The reasons given on the RBLS website are spurious to say the least: the Royal British Legion in Scotland was the first to be raised in Britain and has always been separate, it comes under the auspices of the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator, whereas the Royal British Legion is governed by the Charity Commission that regulates charities in England and Wales. Thus there is no confliction of names as seems to be their main argument. If they alienate their current members and do not encourage new younger members - they will be in a worse position than they are at present!
