Posting 1515 As the Wedding Season approaches the wedding planners, purohits, caterers and the various clans providing related services become hyperactive. There is this new breed of speciality photographers, now a days, who specialise in snapping the candid moments in any function, as quite different from the run of the mill photographers. This category of professionals charge, however, a bomb! Talking of caterers, they advertise the year through in the vernaculars, highlighting their culinary skills. Many of these ads also do particularly carry the picture of a highly revered Mutt Head, more as a selling tactic than anything else. The old timers still print the pathirikai in the traditional Pink-Yellow format in Tamil, duly self-invoking the blessings of one Mutt Head or the other, as if such sages, who have taken to sanyas to be away from these worldly mumbo jumbos, have much to do with every other wedding in town. However much we desire our children to be blessed by all on such occasions, are we innocuously pulling these Holy men into our worldly affairs ? Well, the weddings themselves are great events, developed over ages with various rituals, but often the groom & bride hardly have time or will to understand them.
