Powerful message from a daughter of an ALS victim, who lost her voice. ALS is a cruel disease, which seems to first attack the part of the body that allowed the victim to enjoy life. Singers first lose their voice; runners first lose their legs; pianists first lose their hands; outdoorsmen/hunters/fishermen first lose their hands and feet. Onset of symptoms is so subtle at first that the victim and the doctors often miss the first signs that may occur years before diagnosis. ALS is a death sentence with no hope. A very small percentage live for years after diagnosis: but only with extreme medical intervention, which is often worse than the disease itself. Some choose not to have heroic efforts to extend their lives because their poor quality of life imprisons them and their families in a living hell. God bless the medical researchers who are busy in their labs today searching for a cure.
