Praise for the Day July 22, 2014 Genesis 6 & 7 How long was Noah on the ark with those animals? That would be a sure show of patience, wouldn’t it? I did some non-scholarly research (Google is NOT considered scholarly). The Bible actually gives a pretty straightforward timeline. There should be little to do but add up the numbers, which equal 370. Never to let a fact go unchallenged, there are those who support a 364 day cruise. Seriously, does it matter? I think the real show of Noah’s patience does not occur on the high seas but rather before then, before the stowing of the animals, before the building of the ark, before the gathering of the materials. Noah’s patience was in remaining faithful when the world around him was not. Noah did not have a church with which to fellowship. He did not have a Bible to read by the light of the candle and the hearth fire. There was no small group fellowship, no Sunday School, no Women of Faith nor Iron Sharpens Iron rallies. Noah and his family were the only ones left who listened when God called. I do not know who you are but you are not the only one who believes. I do and you do so that is a majority, right? Patience, my friend, God is the third strand in this cord. “A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken” ( Ecclesiastes 4:12, NLT).
