Praying for Our Wives. Day 27 “A Heart of Compassion” Todays Verse: “She extends a helping hand to the poor and opens her arms to the needy.” - Proverbs 31:20 (NLT) Compassion is a missing quality in so many people today. It is easy to get caught up in our little world and forget about the poor and needy around us. We see the hurting and quickly turn our heads. We think it’s someone else’s responsibility. We think the government should be doing something, but throughout scripture we see the church meeting not only the spiritual needs, but the physical needs as well. The person with compassion sees the need, and then does whatever she can do to help the situation. Generosity is living out the understanding that what I have is not my own. I am just a conduit for the resources of God. Because I am not the source, I can give what I have to help others. The Proverbs 31 woman is a person who is not so caught up in her own world, that she misses the needs of those around her. Rather, she is ready and willing to help those in need. She doesn’t give out of guilt, but gives because she truly has compassion. Today, as you pray for your wife, pray God gives her a heart of compassion. That she will open her heart and her hands to those in need. Ask God to open her eyes to the needs around her and to give her a heart of compassion. Sample Prayer: Father, today I pray that you will build in Lyn a heart of compassion. I pray that she will open her heart and her hands to help anyone in need she sees. I pray that she will not turn her head away from the needy, but will reach out her hand to help however she can. In Jesus Name, Amen (If you would like, you can copy and paste the following message, or use it as an example to let your wife know what you are praying for her today.) Lyn, today I was reminded that we need compassion. It is easy to overlook those in need around us and simply focus on our own needs. I am praying that today, you will have a special opportunity to meet a need in someone’s life. I am praying that compassion will fill your heart today.
