Prelude to a Kiss~Oscar Peterson Oscar Emmanuel Peterson, (15/8/1925 - 23/12/2007) was a Canadian jazz pianist and composer. He released over 200 recordings, won eight Grammy Awards, and received numerous other awards and honours. He is considered to have been one of the greatest jazz pianists,having played thousands of live concerts to audiences worldwide in a career lasting more than 60 years. Prelude to a Kiss is a 1938 song composed by Duke Ellington with lyrics by Irving Gordon. Edward Kennedy Duke Ellington (1899-1974) was an American composer, pianist and bandleader of jazz orchestras. He led his orchestra from 1923 until his death, his career spanning over 50 years. Irving Gordon (1915 – 1996) was an American songwriter. Lyrics : If you hear a song in blue like a flower crying for the dew, that was my heart serenading you my prelude to a kiss. If you hear a song that grows from my tender sentimental woes, that was my heart trying to compose a prelude to a kiss. Though its just a simple melody with nothing fancy, nothing much, you could turn it to a symphony a Shubert tune with a Gershwin touch.
