Preparing for the next chapter of the journey. Two weeks ago during the Byrnes/Dorman JV game, our son Eli re-tore his left ACL...fourteen months after his previous surgery. He will undergo surgery this Thursday morning to do reconstructive surgery on his knee. There are many people who have joined with us in praying for him and for Dr. Mike Hoenig of Orthopaedic Associates, P.A.. Our faith and trust is in Almighty God and the fact that he raised up a Christ centered surgeon like Mike Hoenig who has carefully navigated the waters with us through this time. Eli has encouraged us with the strength of his spirit during what has been a difficult situation. We are praying for strength for the journey as we once again begin to learn new things about what is most important in life. I am thankful for Elis PT Ken Finley and extra PT Jim Storch, who both have become like brothers to me as they work to help my son regain strength in his leg. We are not going to rush this process. We are waiting on Gods timing to unfold as he is writing Elis incredible story. His life is not about football....although it is his favorite sport....His life is not about Alabama...although he is a diehard Bama fan....His life is not about hunting...although he loves loading into the truck with his brothers and Dad to go into the woods...His life is about living to bring honor and glory to the One who gave him new life and gives him meaning. Yes Eli will play football again one day...yes he will still cheer for Bama and go hunting, run track,and sing in Chorus....but what we pray for more than anything is that Christ will be seen in him in such a way that the only thing people will say when they hear his name is exactly what the Apostle Paul told Timothy in 1 Tim. 4;12 - Dont let anyone look down on you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. Lead the way Eli Buckley...your Dad, your Mom, and your three brothers are running beside you all the way as you run the race that is set before you!!!! Fix your eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of our faith!!!! Thank you for your prayers
