Preserving wetlands around here is so important. This event is a great way to bring attention to it (plus if youve never shot clay targets, and I have not, heres your chance.) Organizer Stancy DuHamel explains: To non-shooting/non-hunting conservationists who want to protect wetlands and dont know about the mission of Ducks Unlimited: DU’s members are mostly waterfowl hunters. Waterfowlers are the largest group of wetlands conservationists out there. Protection of wetlands habitat conservation benefits all birds, insects, animals, frogs, fish, plants and trees that thrive in this most diverse of habitats. A dollar that goes to DU goes to support wetlands protection and restoration. By holding our event at Dover Furnace, we help raise awareness of the Great Swamp, NYSs third largest freshwater wetlands. The north flow of the Great Swamp runs along the eastern edge of this public shooting grounds and hunting preserve which protects wetlands habitat. Check it out!
