SONSHIP THE LIVING SACRIFICE AND TRANSFORMATION OF THE SOUL. Rom 12:1-2 A Living Sacrifice to God 12 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Dont copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know Gods will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Holy Bible, New Living Translation Disciples are new beings in the presence of the lord, therefore we are enjoined to present our body as a living sacrifice pure and holy which is our reasonable service. What does the Bible mean when it talks about your body been a living sacrifice? In the Old Testament, we see that in the tabernacle of God, there are three courts, 1. the outer court 2. the holy place and 3. the most holy place You can study this extensively in the book of exodus. The outer court is the court of congregation, where all the Israelites gather for worship and to offer sacrifice for their sins. In this court, you have the altar for sin offering and the brazen laver, the significance of the two is to offer sacrifice for sin and for the priests that minister in the tabernacle to wash their hands to make them holy before they work in the tabernacle. This is a typology of the first process of entering sonship like the pattern son, The Lord Jesus Christ. Your body now becomes the sacrifice offered in place of the sin offering, because the lord Jesus has been offered once and for all, you need to stay away from sin by been on the altar every time like a slaughtered animal, though living but not moving out of the constraints of the commandments of the lord. When Christ was crucified he did not say a word or struggle to get off the cross, so also you that want to reign with him must carry your cross, die to all worldly desires and remain on the bronze altar in the outer court until you have finished with sin and its power to sting. When I say carry your cross, I do not mean sickness and diseases, because a lot of Christians misunderstand the message of the cross and therefore stay away from it. As long as the message is not understood no transformation that is eternal in nature can take place in a disciple and if care is not taken you end up in the realm of the foolish virgins or worst still, the realm of depart from me you workers of iniquity. It is only the message of the cross that has the power to transform a man and make him a living sacrifice to the lord. What is the message of the cross? The message of the cross is simply the message of the crucifixion of the flesh and denial of the self. If it was no longer necessary Christ will not tell you and I to carry our cross, deny our self and follow him. Mark 8:34-35 Take Up the Cross and Follow Him (Matt 16:24-27; Luke 9:23-26) 34 When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 35 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospels will save it. NKJV To follow the lord into eternal things the church through the disciples must regain the message and the ministry. The ministry is the restoration of man to the lost estate by the first Adam through the last Adam, the lord Jesus. Death that was not part of the plan of God initially but it became the portion of man after Adam sinned and life came by the last Adam by the cross, therefore the lost estate of peace and immortality in the presence of the father was restored that is the ministry, while the message is that the only way back into that estate is through Christ and his cross, there is no substitute and man cannot corner God. We must learn to return to the place of the cross to become living sacrifice and teach others likewise. Your cross is denying yourself in the face of the will of the father, letting him have pre-eminence in all things, Christ carried his cross despite the fact that it was not palatable, his will was totally crucified at Gethsemane and the will of the father came to pass. You cannot stick to your will and think the cross will work eternity in you. The lords commandment is that you turn the left check when slapped on the right, that is your cross, how many times have you gone against this commandment in favour of the flesh and the pride of life? You are always talking about your right and the wisdom of men. Don’t you know that the message of the cross looks like foolishness to the generation that is going to perish? The message is pure foolishness in the face of the philosophies of men, governments, human right activists, present day Christians who preach you must always have all that you want and get your right always and the anti Christ. Any affront to the message of the cross is an affront to the message of the kingdom because there is no kingdom without the cross and that kind of affront is just the anti Christ. And it is actually amidst us as we go against the words of the bible and preach to tingle the ears of men. The commandment of the lord is that you love your enemies and pray for those that curse you, but you curse all that hate you, you return evil in seven fold and work in the path of unrighteousness just to satisfy your flesh. You will rather disobey Christ and pray fall and die prayer and return back to senders all the evil sent towards you to save your life and forget that the bible says that if you seek to save your life you will loss it. Heb 12:24 24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. NKJV WHY DOES THE BLOOD OF JESUS SPEAK BETTER THINGS THAN THE BLOOD OF ABEL? THE BLOOD OF JESUS SPEAKS FORGIVENESS AND THAT OF ABEL SPEAKS VENGEANCE. When Christ was on the cross he was asking for forgiveness for those that were crucifying him, Stephen did the same thing, Paul was also killed and he dint speak anything contrary, same goes for peter, James, john and all those that were killed for their testimony about Christ. What today is the word of your testimony? As disciples love for our enemies is unconditional, God has made provisions for our safety, our stay is in him and of him, we must return to the cross. Deny yourself. How many times have you returned to who you used to be before you knew Christ? Old things are not passed away with you because of the self nature. The things that do not give glory to the lord of all lords still dwell with you because of the old self’s nature. We will go on fro here tomorrow by his grace.
