President Koroma Assures The United Council of Imams By State House Communications Unit President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma has commended the efforts of the Muslim community for the promotion of peace and good values among the people of Sierra Leone. He affirmed governments commitment to continue to promote the Muslim community in Sierra Leone. We are very pleased that the people of Kuwait, according to reports from our Ambassador in Saudi Arabia, are very happy because Sierra Leoneans in that part of the world have comported themselves exceedingly well throughout their sojourn there, the president said, and stressed that Islam is a religion of peace. He noted that the three issues mentioned by the Chairman; faith, love and hope are very much instructive for the promotion of peace and development in the country. President Koroma called on the Imams to use the platform of the Friday congregational prayers to unite and promote peace in the country. You have a great role to play to impact on the lives of the youth, women and children for the continued transformation of the country, saying that without discipline, development cannot take place. He described Islam as a disciplined religion and culture, and therefore has a pivotal role to play to change the mindsets of the society.
