President Obama insists that as long as he is President, we’ll never go back to the old health care system. But governing against the will of the people can carry a high price at the polls. And he’s definitely swimming against the tide. There has never been a moment since the Affordable Care Act passed when a clear majority of Americans approved of it, and the more of it they see, the less they like it. A new Reason/Rupe poll found that only 34 percent of Americans prefer Obamacare to what they had before. 55 percent say they want to go back to the old system. And lectures from Washington won’t convince them otherwise. In fact, a whopping 73 percent believe that the average member of Congress doesn’t even understand the health care system well or the impact the laws they pass have on it. Gee, I wonder where they could’ve gotten that idea? Well, maybe Congress will act on the results of this poll, if they can just find a way to act on it without reading it first.
