President U Thein Sein received a delegation led by Senator The Hon Bob Carr, Foreign Affairs Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia Thu, 07/11/2013 - 09:53 Nay Pyi Taw, 10 July President U Thein Sein received a delegation led by Senator The Hon Bob Carr, Foreign Affairs Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia, at the Credentials Hall of the Presidential Palace, here this morning. The President said that Myanmar is placing special emphasis on socio-economic development of people in rural areas. The government is implementing micro credit schemes in cooperation with the private sectors as those people’s major requirement is capital. Aus Aid is carrying out rural development tasks in Indonesia and the African countries. He expressed thanks for Aus Aid’s assistance to Myanmar. He requested the FM to convey his invitation to the Australian Prime Minister to visit Myanmar. The Australian Foreign Minister said that both Myanmar and Australia would promote trade and investments thanks to trade commission office in Yangon. The Australian companies are making investments in Myanmar. He pledged that Australia would grant 100 million Australian Dollars to Myanmar’s educational reform this year. And Australia has provided five million Australian Dollars for peace-making process with national race armed groups, he added. They also held talks on education and health care programme for victims in Rakhine State. It was also attended by Union Minister U Wunna Maung Lwin, U Aung Kyi and U Soe Thane, departmental heads, the Australian Ambassador to Myanmar and high-ranking officials. (y)...(y)...(y)....
