President U Thein Sein sends message to Myanmar National Disability Conference ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®® Nay Pyi Taw, 11 June President U Thein Sein sent a message to the opening ceremony of the Myanmar National Disability Conference that began on Tuesday in Yangon and will be held through Thursday. In his message, U Thein Sein said, “As the conference reflects on equal rights and non-discrimination and to recognize the dignity of people with disabilities, I appreciate the event.” He also said that such a move is important to ensure equal human rights in society. Myanmar singed the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) on 7 December 2011, which was approved at the 61st session of the United Nations General Assembly in 2006. He said that the Ministry of Social Welfare, Rescue and Resettlement is drafting a bill for legal protection and guarantee of human rights for disabled persons. The ministry SWRR in cooperation with a disabled advocacy group, is making plans to organize an event to mark a disability arts festival of local disabled persons by inviting popular artists, the president said. ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®®
