Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda has a new definition for the term “pork barrel” – if it’s not for someone’s reelection, it’s not pork barrel. “The Presidential Social Fund [PSF] is not pork barrel because, in the context of patronage politics, it is meant for re-election,” Lacierda told reporters in a news briefing. “The President is not running for re-election; he is not allowed to run for another term.” So it’s like telling the president’s critics: “You better stop yapping about the President’s pork barrel, because there is none.”
