Press-Release Goa Raakhann Manch, formerly known as ‘Get Well - TopicsExpress

Press-Release Goa Raakhann Manch, formerly known as ‘Get Well Soon’ group is fighting for the cause of primary education in mother tongue for the past three years. ‘Get well soon’ played a major role in creating a mass awareness against Digamber Kamat Government. Later Manohar Parrikar Government did not solve the MOI Issue but made it more complicated and political. Education and health must be kept outside the ambit of petty politics. Goa Raakhann Manch is working towards the unity and safeguarding the interest of future generations. ‘Get Well Soon’ in 2012 played a major role in creating awareness about Assembly election. Several members of ‘Get well Soon’ were also members of India Against Corruption. Goa Rakhann Manch is extending its support to the Aam Aadmi Party for 2014 General Elections. The decision is taken by considering and discussing various aspects. Goa Raakhann Manch extends support for the following issues of the AAP: 1. Medium of Instruction policy – Aam Aadmi Party has proposed in its Manifesto that decision of the current MOI issue is to be taken by the experts. This demand is valid and logical. ‘Goa Rakhann Manch’ since 2011 has been pressing for the same, that this issue must be resolved by the educationists and not the politicians. There is provision in the Right to Education Act under Article 29 (i) to set up an Academic Authority. It empowers the Authority to take the decision and set guidelines. The members of the authority as prescribed must be educationists and their decision must be binding on the Govt. to form its policy. The current Govt. has played foul by earlier announcing the Academic Authority under RTE and then reducing it to be a consultative committee. The consultative committee didn’t had any legal sanction or administrative authority. The nastiest thing was that CM Parrikar tried to manipulate its decision and misguided the people of Goa and attempting to divide the society. GRM stands for resolving the MOI issue by the experts and supports the decision taken by the AAP. 2. Selection of candidates – AAP North Goa candidate Dr. Dattaram Desai and South Goa candidate Swati Kerkar has enormous contribution in the social and green movement. Therefore GRM respects the candidature of Dr. Desai and Kerkar. GRM also takes into consideration the integrity, credibility, honesty and selfless service to the people of Goa of the candidates while extending its support to them. The political institutions of the nation are suffering from credibility crises. Candidates like Dr. Desai and Kerkar in politics is necessary to reinforce people’s faith in the political system. 3. Nation building and spirit of youth- Lok Sabha poll plays vital role in shaping India’s various policies towards society, economy and other affairs of the nation. India is tremendously young which holds major young population of the world. Nationwide candidates those chosen by AAP are related to the youth development and youth aspirations. AAP’s vision to bring down corrupt establishment and bringing in ‘Swaraj’ are in the interests of the youth and the future generations. GRM has come to this decision by taking all the aspects of 2014 Elections into consideration. We don’t want to defeat only the candidates of BJP and Congress but we need to defeat the politics which their party represents. And the AAP is the only credible alternative for the change. The BJP Govt. in Goa has failed to implement the promises given in past two years. The autocratic decision making and constant betrayal of the mandate, the current BJP candidates have completely failed in condemning this process of the state government. The Congress has still not come out clean on corruption and several other issues. Congress was the root cause of all the issues that Goa is now facing. Therefore GRM extends its support to Aam Aadmi Party. 01/04/2014 Convener Goa Raakhann Manch
