Princess Pixie - an appeal for help. Dear friends of M7. We’re saddened to have to appeal to you once again for help with vet fees. Some weeks ago we heard Pixie wrenching violently, straining her body, making a hoarse, barking sound. Our first instinct was this was probably a hairball which would soon be ejected. But the wrenching episodes continued 3 or 4 times a day for several days. Naturally, we took her to vet for an examination. The (locum) vet suggested it was most likely a hairball and prescribed Katalax, an emollient intended to smooth the exit of hairball. Needless to say, Pixie didn’t like the taste and most of it ended up on the floor/walls/our clothes. You can see a video of Pixie’s distress on the M7 page. The wrenching continued so we returned to our regular vet with a video recording of the wrenching. The vet was concerned and suggested that it could be asthma which can be quite serious in a cat. To make a full diagnosis the vet will need to take an x-ray. This involves poor Pixie being given a sedative - something we never like to do - but the procedure is essential to help Pixie. We received a quote today to carry-out the procedure. The fee for the diagnosis alone is about £300; treatment thereafter could be another £200. We have the quote available if you’d like to see it. Having our wonderful 7 cats is a blessing and a joy but the recent run of illness is very tough to afford. So we’re appealing for your help once more. If you feel able to donate a little towards these mounting costs we - and Pixie - would be eternally grateful. Thanks The M7 x
