Prior to the 1930s are economy was very close to a free capitalistic economy. We had a few controls, mostly relating to monopoly, but very little relating to working conditions, hours, pay, etc. Prior to the 1930s 60% of our economy, by todays standards, were at or below the then poverty level. granted many were farmers, but farmers who were just making it. Between 1930 and 1970 we established the income security programs, we established almost all of the mentioned agencies and passed laws controlling the economy, we basically became a controlled capitalist economy. During this time, when we were adding all those regulations and income security programs we became the strongest and largest economy in the world. Now some might say we did thing in spite of these things, I would call them foolish. We became the strongest economy BECAUSE of those regulations and programs. These things gave people trust in our economy and the security to go out on a limb and build a new business. Now the GOP and Libertarians want to eliminate that which made us a great nation and gave us a sound and healthy economy. They are fools, who do not know history and are going to take away that which makes us the greatest nation in the world. They are going to turn us into an "also ran!" Do not let them do it. Protect what makes us great, vote for the Democrats.
