Production: Cinderella Auditions Thanks for your interest in auditioning for Hoylake and West Kirby Theatre Groups pantomime Cinderella. The show will take place at The Gladstone Theatre, Port Sunlight on Thursday 9th January to Sunday 12th January. You will be needed for rehearsals at the theatre every night for the week beginning 6th January. Rehearsals in the run up to the show will take place at Hoylake Community Centre typically on a Monday and Wednesday evening (more information will be given at the Workshop regarding dates/ times etc). You MUST attend the Workshop so that you can register your interest and receive audition pieces. This is a breakdown of what you can expect from the audition process. Please be aware that this is subject to change depending on the response and expected attendees. Monday 8th July @ 7:30pm Workshop & Registration Hoylake Community Centre, Hoyle Road, HoylakeComplete registration form and specify the parts you will be auditioning for. Audition pieces will be given out; this will include a short scripted piece (for speaking parts only) a simple choreographed dance routine (everyone) plus a specific song for principals with singing parts (see below) or a song for all other parts including chorus/ children. Cinderella- ‘Pricetag’ by Jessie J/ ‘Time After Time’ by Cyndi Lauper (BOTH) Buttons- ‘You Don’t Know Your Beautiful’ by One Direction Prince and Dandini- ‘Live While You’re Young’ by One Direction Ugly Sisters- ‘Single Ladies’ by Beyonce Singers – ‘Marry You’ Bruno Mars/ ‘Candy’ Robbie Williams (BOTH) Chorus/ Children/Non singing Principals - ‘Candy’ by Robbie Williams A short dance routine will be taught. Music will be available for those who aren’t familiar with the song choices. Monday 15th July @7:30pm Auditions for Chorus/Children/Cash & Carry/ King/ Step Mother/ Fairy Godmother (Non-Singing Principals) 7:30pm Rehearsal of dance piece/ group song 7:45pm- 8:15pm Group audition of song and dance (Everyone) 8:15pm Children’s fairy/ wizard audition plus Fairy Godmother (in groups) 9:00pm Scripted Auditions for Cash & Carry/ King/ Step Mother (in groups) Wednesday 17th July @7:30pm Auditions for Principal Parts/ Dancers/ Singers (16+) 7:30pm- 8:00pm Rehearsal and audition of dance.8:00pm- 10:00pm Principal Auditions and singers (Please be willing to stay until 10pm) Character Breakdown Cinderella (female) Young, beautiful and fun. Audience must love her! Strong singer. Buttons (Male) Loveable lad who has a massive soft spot for Cinders! Must have great stage presence and be able to work an audience. Strong singer. Prince (Male/ Female) Charming and well spoken, somebody that you might fall in love with! Strong singer. Dandini (Male/ Female) A bit more common than the Prince but still well groomed and a bit of a charmer! Good singer. Fairy Godmother (Female) Caring and good natured must have good rapport with children. Fairy Apprentice/ Wizard x 3 (Male/ Female mix) Confident and fun. Nice loud speaking voice with plenty of energy! King (Male) Daft old man! Step Mother (Female) Cinderella’s wicked stepmother. Typical baddie. Ugly Sister (Male/ Female) One half of the pair that make Cinders life a misery! Over-the-top dame type character. Must be able to work an audience Ugly Sister (Male) The other half! Typical Dame. Must be able to work an audience. Cash (Male/Female) One of a not very bright pair of debt collectors. Carry (Male/ Female) The other half of the debt-collectors Singer x 3 Featured Singers. Must be strong singers and work well together as a trio. They will make random appearances throughout to support all of the musical numbers. Whilst we are not expecting people to learn the lines completely for their auditions we would like you to make yourselves very familiar with the script and the songs. We have purposely made them short so that this can be done. You will only be allowed 5 minutes for each part during your audition so please make the most of this time by showing us your best! No decisions will be made until everybody has been auditioned and you will be notified by your preferred method of email or letter.
