Prof. Chudi Uwazuruike As the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha continues to insist that the agitation for a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction could only be realized on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), the member representing Okigwe South in the House of Representative, Prof. Chudi Uwazuruike has dismissed the APC as an alternative to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking with our correspondent in his country home, Umunakanu Ehime Mbano recently, Prof. Uwazuruike said since the APC has not been registered as a political party, the contraption “is a non-issue”. The lawmaker who addressed the press on his intention to canvass for votes in the 2015 general elections on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said he has attracted forty projects in only two years as a federal lawmaker and wondered how many more other projects will be executed if he serves for two tenures. He said that since politicians are wont to abandon projects initiated by others, it becomes imperative and pertinent to stay around to ensure that the projects are completed and judiciously used so as to better the lives of the people. He informed the august gathering that the projects include: satellite market sited at Aformgba, health centres spread across the three local governments of Obowo, Ihitte Uboma and Ehime Mbano LGA respectively geared towards providing medicare to the people of Okigwe South Federal Constituency. Other projects attracted by him include solar energy powered street lights, boreholes, construction of classroom blocks, ICT centres and provision of scholarships to students in the 3 local government areas that constitute Okigwe South Federal Constituency. He informed the audience that the tuition free extra moral studies provided to secondary school students in the zone is yielding positive results. Prof. Chudi Uwazuruike used the opportunity to inaugurate three committees on youth empowerment, project monitoring and an advisory council – legacy advisory and consultative forum. The 3 committees were headed by Arc. MacTony Iwuoha, Dr. Eli Dibia and Deacon Ben. Ofoeze (Bishops). The memberships of the committees were drawn from the three LGAs in Okigwe South Federal Constituency.
