Professional pastors keep telling me that I will lose my zeal for the commandments of Christ when I grow older and get a grip on the way the world really is… Well I am 33 years old, and the older I get the more certain I am that I live among a lukewarm people who profess to believe the Gospel yet deny its power. And contrary to those telling me of the way the path will widen as my older eyes are opened, I have only grown more zealous by the Grace of God in accordance with His word and promises. Dear God, please stop your people from growing out of their faith. Never let us look back on when we were so young and foolish to believe that we could turn the world upside down. Give us the kind of zeal you gave your prophets and apostles. Save us from the dead orthodoxy, apathy, and indifference of modern pastors who contently preach sermons on sundays that counter the culture in word yet live lives that fail to ever do so in deed.
