Project Tariro was among the first to open its doors to people - TopicsExpress

Project Tariro was among the first to open its doors to people living with HIV. It didn’t start the program because of the government but rather because of the people in rural areas not able to receive help. The cost of the program is approximately what one person in the USA would earn in one year, $60,000. Where do the resources come from? The patients can’t pay. UMCOR and United Methodist Global AIDS Fund currently supports 1/3 of the program. The rest comes from individual donations, primarily UMC deacons, across the US, and from the sale of products from the Tariro farm and clients crafts.
