Project: Youth Against Corruption Association Event: Second YACA Forum Theme: Climate Change: What does it mean for Papua New Guinea? The YACA Forum is aimed at giving youth a voice. To give them an opportunity to raise concerns on issues affecting them and come up with solutions and/or things that young people can do to help contribute to a better society for Papua New Guinea. The second YACA forum will be held on Saturday 15th June 2013 at Gordons Secondary School from 9.30am – 12.30pm. The forum is themed – Climate Change: What does it mean for Papua New Guinea? Climate Change is affecting PNG. Youth may not have the financial power, but we can organize and mobilize to build a group of people that can help to change the conditions in our own communities, conditions that contribute to climate change, and help to reduce climate change impacts. Purpose of the 2nd YACA Forum 1. Creating awareness on climate change in PNG 2. What YACA can do to help reduce climate change impacts Results 1. For youth to understand what climate change is/about 2. For youth to determine their role in preventing climate change 3. For youth to determine their role in dealing with climate change Forum Activity 1. Guest Speaker from OCCD to do a presentation on: - Introduction to Climate Change 2. Divide students into groups to discuss: - What is Climate Change - What can we do about it? (Adaptation) - How do let our friends and communities know about climate change? (Awareness activities) 3. Group Presentations 4.
