Project managers from Croydon Council, Network Rail and Southern - TopicsExpress

Project managers from Croydon Council, Network Rail and Southern were on hand at East Croydon station concourse on 12 June to explain planned improvements in around the station and take on board feedback from passengers. Works to the station platforms include new shelters, refurbished waiting rooms and improved toilets. The existing station concourse will be made easier to use by moving the gateline and ticket machines, installing new passenger information boards, and opening up an additional entrance on the west side of the station. The East Croydon footbridge is already open for interchange, with the lifts set to be in operation by August. A new station entrance from Lansdowne Road to the bridge through the Ruskin Square site is due to open later this year. Works to the station itself will be complemented by public realm improvements to the wider public transport interchange including proposals to increase the amount of space for pedestrians along George Street, declutter the bus station, rationalise the road layout on Billinton Hill and provide a level walkway between the concourse and the eastern end of the footbridge. Taken together, these works to the station and its surroundings are delivering the East Croydon Masterplan objectives to create a world class railway station at the heart of a well-connected and high quality new urban quarter. bit.ly/17oMEhh
