Proportions for heater shields. For better control of thy shield follow this simple diagram for a basic heater. It works out like this. the top measurement is divided by 3. (for simple math ill use 21 inches.) 21 / 3 = 7. This should be the measurement of the vertical straight sides of the shield before the curvature starts. These dimensions move the balance point of th shield closer to center mass where your arm will be. For the bottom of the shield place your string compass at the 7 inch mark on the vertical sides and place your marker or pencil on the opposite side of the shield. Draw your line toward the bottom of the shield from either side to form a point. The smaller profile will bring the center of gravity upward making the shield seem lighter in the hand for extended use. Yay Medieval science.
