Proposed Town Centers on Dixie Highway From Councilman David Yates As a part of the Dixie Highway Master Plan, adopted by the Louisville Metro Plan Commission earlier this year, the development of new Town Centers has been proposed. The location of the proposed Town Centers are as follows: Between Wilson Avenue and Oak Street Between I-264 and Gagel Avenue Near Lower Hunters Trace Near Valley Station Road Between I-264 to Leroy Street (Existing Town Center) The proposed Town Centers intend to have distinct character with different land uses along Dixie Highway to enhance aesthetic appeal as well as to promote commerce and growth to the community. "The future of Dixie Highway is a vision that celebrates the legacy of this historic corridor through the preservation and enhancement of investment in both public infrastructure and private assets. We envision enhancements to Dixie Highway that will assure its success as a regional commercial corridor with unified but distinct character zones that are functional and safe for all users. With these enhancements, Dixie Highway will serve the residents of not only southwest Louisville, but also provide mobility for people and commerce in the region."
