Protesters set fire to Burkina Faso’s parliament About 1,500 protesters in Ouagadougou broke the security cordon and stormed the National Assembly building, ransacking offices and setting fire to cars, before moving to the national television headquarters and on to the presidential palace. Dozens of soldiers have reportedly joined the protests, including a former defence minister, General Kouame Lougue. At least five people have been killed. The object of the recent demonstrations has been a constitutional amendment that would allow President Blaise Compaoré to extend its 27-year-rule. MPs have suspended the vote. It is however unclear whether the government intends to hold it at a later date. #BurkinaFaso #Ouagadougou #protests #BlaiseCompaore #riot See more: bbc.in/1wHTFZV
