Psalm 27:10: "When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up." Isaiah 49:15: "Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee." Luke 11:11: "If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?" Ephesians 6:4: "And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." Colossians 3:21: "Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged." Parents, it is true that the Bible tells children to honor their father and their mother...but YOU likewise have an obligation not to do anything that will turn your children against you. This includes abusing them, taking advantage of them, breaking their trust, or otherwise doing anything that will cause them to lose respect for or faith in you. Being a parent is a sacred obligation; if you violate that obligation by your actions, unless you repent of your sins, and seek to reconcile and make amends with your children who you have offended, you will have to give an account for it one day.
